Catholic Information Center

1501 K Street NW
Washington, DC 20005 United States

Description

The Catholic Information Center invites you to join us in-person or virtually for the next session of our Legal and Policy Professionals (LPP) Program. Our speaker will be Jonathan Berry, an experienced regulatory litigator, counselor, and federal executive. He is currently the managing partner at Boyden Gray PLLC, a boutique law and public policy firm in Washington, D.C. Previously, Jon served as the acting Assistant Secretary for Policy at the U.S. Department of Labor.

The topic of Jon’s presentation will be his recent article in First Things, “Renewing Labor,” which asks insightful questions on reconciling a commitment to both the working man and woman as well as business owners. Read the article here.

Another topic of interest to many DC attorneys and policy officials is the present transitional phase for our nation post-election and the upcoming changes of government. What opportunities are out there for attorneys? Please bring your questions for Jon, whose insight and expertise may be helpful for your own professional journey.

Schedule:

  • 5:40 pm EST: The CIC’s doors open for registrant check-in
  • 6:00 pm EST: “Renewing Labor” Talk and Q&A (this portion will be offered virtually via a livestream)
  • 7:00 pm EST: Light Happy (Half) Hour
  • 7:30 pm EST: Conclusion

Please RSVP through the online form to join us in-person or through the livestream link.

About the Speaker

Jonathan Berry is a Managing Partner at Boyden Gray PLLC, and he provides strategic counsel and litigates on issues at the intersection of law, politics, and public policy. He helps his clients navigate the emerging field of bureaucratic overlap in government, corporate America, and capital markets, especially in matters relating to environmental, social, and governance factors. Mr. Berry also litigates complex constitutional and administrative law issues and appeals, particularly in labor, employment, and benefits policy.

Previously, Mr. Berry headed the regulatory office at the U.S. Department of Labor, where he oversaw the development process of dozens of proposed and final rules. As the Regulatory Policy Officer, he regularly represented the Department to the Executive Office of the President and the Office of Management and Budget.

His commentary has been published by the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, and First Things
