Father James V. Schall, SJ was a Professor of Government for 35 years at Georgetown University, the author of more than 30 books on a wide range of topics, and a much beloved figure in the Washington, DC community.
Fr. Schall represented the best of the Jesuit tradition of St. Ignatius Loyola, with his vast learning, unwavering fidelity to the Church, and pastoral manner with every person he met. He was often a featured speaker at the Catholic Information Center, whether discussing his newest book or speaking on a particular topic at the invitation of the CIC. Fr. Schall also attended talks by other public intellectuals regularly at the CIC. Fr. Schall’s example of lifelong learning and fidelity to his priestly vocation have been a great inspiration to many involved in the CIC community.
