The CIC invites DC-area kids and parents to a family-friendly book launch/early Saint Patrick’s Day party on Saturday, March 2nd, from 10:00 am-noon.
Local author Elise Daniel will debut her first children’s book, The Richest Leprechaun in Ireland, a redemptive and heartwarming tale about a greedy leprechaun and one of Ireland’s greatest missionaries that bridges the secular-sacred divide for St. Patrick’s Day.
The event starts with the author’s reading of The Richest Leprechaun, followed by our Family Day St. Patrick’s Party with kid crafts, food, and fun. There might even be a quick Irish step dancing lesson. During the party, parents will also have the special opportunity to buy the book and chat with the author.
The CIC is located at 1501 K Street, NW. Please note that the CIC building’s garage is closed on Saturday mornings, but street parking is available or use an app like Spothero to locate open garages.
The Richest Leprechaun in Ireland is a playful and heartwarming tale of redemption. A greedy leprechaun named Finnius desires only one thing in life: to be the richest leprechaun in Ireland. He spends his days pick-pocketing at the village market to fill his pot of gold, until one day, his crooked ways catch up with him. After a surprising encounter with a praying traveler, Finnius discovers riches of a different kind.
The CIC March 2nd event is a special opportunity to purchase this new book in-person. If you are unable to make it, you can pre-order a copy of The Richest Leprechaun and/or support the mission of the book through Elise Daniel’s Kickstarter page.

“What a pure delight of a read! It seamlessly weaves the true life of St. Patrick with a fictional storyline that is filled with whimsy and fun! The kind of book that children will reach for over and over. I smiled the whole way through!”

“The virtues of beloved St. Patrick shine in this sweet tale of The Richest Leprechaun in Ireland. Little Finnius thinks that he knows what matters most- gold- but learns through both mistakes and mercy that God’s love is more valuable than all the gold in the world. Little ones who claim St. Patrick as a favorite saint will enjoy his role in Finn’s change of heart, while parents and teachers will appreciate the important lessons of faith in this well written picture book!”

“Wow! What an incredible book—both in words and illustrations. The story is charming and entertaining, with a beautiful moral message. This will be a staple in my home when celebrating St. Patrick’s day, and such a wonderful way to explain the faith to young children. Thank you for this delightful book. It is so well done!”
