A CIC Lenten Evening of Recollection: Fr. Larry Swink on Prayer Habits

Back by popular demand! Fr. Larry Swink, a priest of the Archdiocese of Washington and a friend of the CIC, returns for a Lenten Evening of Recollection. He will offer meditations on cultivating a right attitude of prayer to carry you through the final half of Lent and beyond. Fr. Larry will also provide practical tips for developing and improving our prayer habits.

This recollection is offered in-person only. Light snacks will be provided.

March 15th Schedule:

  • 5:00 pm: Blessed Sacrament exposed; Confessions heard by Fr. Swink
  • 5:15 pm: Prayer of the Stations of the Cross
  • 6:00 pm: Talk 1: The Our Father: A Lesson on Cultivating a Right Attitude of Prayer (30 minutes)
  • 6:30 pm: Break
  • 6:45 pm: Talk 2: 7 Prayerful Habits Leading to Piety and time for questions (60 minutes)
  • 7:45 pm: Conclusion

The closest Metro stops near the CIC are McPherson Square (Orange, Blue, and Silver lines) and Farragut North (Red line). The CIC building’s garage (Atlantic Parking) is open until 3:00am on Friday nights. Upon arriving, alert the parking attendant to receive the discounted CIC event rate.

 

About the Speaker

Born on Midway Island (a U.S. territory), Fr. Larry Swink is the oldest of 10 children. He is graduate of the Heights School in Potomac, MD, and of the University of Dallas, earning a degree in political philosophy. Before joining the Immaculate Conception Seminary in 2001, he worked for Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor for 2.5 years. He was ordained in 2006, and had been previously been pastor at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church in Huntingtown, MD, and Sacred Heart in La Plata, MD. In his spare time, Fr. Larry enjoys the outdoors. He is a cyclist, plays basketball, and enjoys hiking and snowboarding…as well as anything that includes a ball or a stick!
