Dr. Cheryl White

Dr. Cheryl White is a professor of history at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Shreveport and holds the endowed Hubert Humphreys Professorship and the Yancey-Strain Curatorship. The LSU Shreveport Foundation sponsors Dr. White’s presentation through her endowed professorship. Dr. White has a distinguished career-long interest in Shroud studies, currently serving on the board of directors of the Shroud of Turin Education and Research Association (STERA). She has published and presented original research from the Vatican Secret Archives related to the history of the Shroud for international journals and conferences. Dr. White is also on the executive team of the National Shroud of Turin Exhibit, the co-host of CIC’s program. Dr. White served as the historical consultant on the 2022 Shroud of Turin exhibit developed for the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., where she gave several presentations. Also, Dr. White provided an internationally live-streamed presentation on the Shroud for the esteemed Smithsonian Institution last year, where she is a frequent lecturer in their World History Certificate Program. She also has appeared in several documentaries, including The History Channel and the Discovery Channel, and is currently working with producers of EWTN on a forthcoming special documentary series on the Shroud for 2024 to include Father Robert Spitzer, S.J. and Father Peter Mangum. With Father Mangum, she produced a popular podcast series entitled “Who is the Man of the Shroud?” available on iTunes and many other platforms. In 2022, Dr. White was honored to see the Shroud of Turin as part of a special private event by the Center for the International Study of the Shroud in Turin, Italy.
