Chris Vander Woude
Chris Vander Woude is the fifth of Tom and Mary Ellen’s seven sons, and he now carries the story of his father’s life and death across the country, as well as sharing the process towards canonization that began this year with the assignment of a postulator in Rome.
Chris is devoting two years of his life to spread awareness about his father’s story through his work for the Tom Vander Woude Guild.
Chris works also at the Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School in Dumfries, Virginia as the Dean of Students & Athletic Director. He was raised on a small farm in Nokesville, Virginia, where most of his family still resides. After graduating from Christendom with a degree in History, he married Katy (Hadro) Vander Woude. Chris worked at Christendom College while Katy earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University. They are blessed with their daughter, Zelie, whom Katy homeschools.
While at Christendom, Chris was the Athletic Director and then the Dean of Students. Previously he worked at Chelsea Academy in Front Royal as the Dean of Students and Athletic Director. Prior to that Chris was the Athletic Director at Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School in Dumfries, Va. They live outside Manassas, Va. and enjoy raising chickens, gardening and spending time with their large families.
