Alexi Sargeant
Alexi Sargeant is a Catholic writer, teacher, and creator of theater and games whose work explores the power of stories and imagination to form people and communities. His writing has appeared in publications including First Things and Magnificat, where he has written on Catholicism, literature, film, technology, popular culture, and the moral imagination.
Alexi is a game designer and theatrical maker whose projects use play and participation to explore character, community, conflict, and narrative. His tabletop games include Autumn Triduum, a roleplaying game about religious sisters confronting the forces of evil.
He is the author of Saintly Creatures: 14 Tales of Animals and Their Holy Companions, a children’s book published by Word on Fire. The book introduces young readers to the lives and virtues of the saints through fourteen stories about encounters between saints and animals. As the highly anticipated companion book, Saintly Adventures: 14 Tales of Daring and Danger from the Lives of the Saints brings fourteen extraordinary tales to life, highlighting the daring bravery and heroic virtue of the saints.
Across his writing, teaching, game design, and theatrical work, Alexi brings together Catholic theology, literature, popular culture, education, and play in an effort to recover the formative power of imagination. He lives in Hyattsville, MD, with his wife, Leah, and their children Beatrice, Thalia, and Malachi.
