The CIC’s Mini Advent Retreat: A Morning of Recollection on Prayer Habits

Join Fr. Larry Swink, a priest of the Archdiocese of Washington and a friend of the CIC, for a mini Advent retreat that will walk you through cultivating a right attitude of prayer to carry you through the final half of Advent and beyond. Fr. Larry will also offer practical tips for developing and improving our prayer habits. Mass, Confessions by two priests, and Eucharistic Adoration will be offered.

Dec. 16th Schedule:

  • 9:00am: Morning social with coffee and light refreshments
  • 9:30am-12:00pm: Confession offered by a second priest
  • 9:30am: Talk 1: The Our Father: A Lesson on Cultivating a Right Attitude of Prayer (30 minutes)
  • 10:00am: Eucharistic Adoration & Silent Prayer
  • 10:30am: Talk 2: 7 Prayerful Habits Leading to Piety (50 minutes)
  • 11:20: Break
  • 11:30am: Mass
  • Noon: Retreat concludes

The closest Metro stops near the CIC are McPherson Square (Orange, Blue, and Silver lines) and Farragut North (Red line). The CIC building’s garage is closed on Saturday mornings, but street parking is available.

About the Speaker

Born on Midway Island (a U.S. territory), Fr. Larry Swink is the oldest of 10 children. He is graduate of the Heights School in Potomac, MD, and of the University of Dallas, earning a degree in political philosophy. Before joining the Immaculate Conception Seminary in 2001, he worked for Morgan Stanley as a financial advisor for 2.5 years. He was ordained in 2006, and had been previously been pastor at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church in Huntingtown, MD, and Sacred Heart in La Plata, MD. In his spare time, Fr. Larry enjoys the outdoors. He is a cyclist, plays basketball, and enjoys hiking and snowboarding…as well as anything that includes a ball or a stick!
