When a fourth-generation Czech-American went “home” for the first time, he wanted to see where his ancestors lived and meet some of those who overthrew the Communist regime in the 1989 “Velvet Revolution.” Instead, he found a living family, and encountered vibrant examples of fortitude and apostolate. Hear about one pilgrim’s story, published in the Christmas 2024 issue of The Lamp, and learn how you can draw inspiration in your work and daily life from your roots and the examples of others.
The CIC and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) invite you to our upcoming discussion with Brian Svoboda about his journey to and insights about his family’s homeland.
Monday, 4/7/2025 Schedule:
The CIC thanks the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation for being our program co-sponsor. And please visit VOC’s Museum, located a block from the CIC on McPherson Square, when you have the opportunity.
“My Czech Pilgrimage” is offered for both in-person and virtual attendance. Copies of the Christmas 2024 edition of The Lamp are available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore.
