CIC’s DC Eucharistic Procession

Saturday, May 20, 2023

9:30 am EDT - 12:00 pm EDT

Catholic Information Center

1501 K Street NW
Washington, DC 20005 United States

Description

You’re invited to participate in the CIC’s first Eucharistic Procession in our nation’s capital. We’ll begin with Mass at the CIC, where we hold the closest tabernacle to the White House. We will then bring Christ’s Real Presence onto the streets of our downtown DC neighborhood and will pass by Farragut Square, Lafayette Square, and McPherson Square before returning to the CIC.

Join us as we pray especially for our country.

What is a Eucharistic Procession?

The Eucharist is the source and summit of the whole Christian life. A Eucharistic Procession, therefore, is a public witness of the veneration toward the most holy Eucharist, conducted through public streets. It takes place in this way: A consecrated host – that is, the real and substantial presence of Jesus Christ: body, blood, soul and divinity – is placed within a monstrance, which is then lifted and carried by a priest who leads the faithful in procession

Schedule:

  • 9:00 am: Doors open at the CIC
  • 9:30 am: Mass celebrated by Fr. Charles Trullols
  • 10:15 am: Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament; Procession begins
  • Around noon: Procession concludes at the CIC

FYIs:

  • The CIC building’s parking garage will be open for procession attendees for a $10 flat rate from 8:00 am-1:00pm. Access to the Atlantic Parking Garage of 1501 K Street is from the alley that connects K & L Streets, between 15th & 16th Streets.

  • The closest DC Metro stops to the CIC are McPherson Square (Orange/Blue/Silver Lines) and Farragut North (Red Line).

  • The procession will go on rain or shine. So check the weather forecast, and bring your umbrella or sunscreen.

  • Dress code: Professional Casual to Sunday Best.

  • There will be altar stations along the procession’s route. If you kneel on the ground in prayer, you may want to bring something to cushion your knees.

  • Water and snacks will not be provided.

  • We will carry your prayer intentions with us during the Procession. Submit your requests through this private online form.

For questions or assistance RSVP-ing, please email us contact@cicdc.org or call 202-783-2062, ext. 4.
