2023 John Paul II New Evangelization Awardee
The CIC’s Twelfth Annual John Paul II New Evangelization Award Gala was held on November 1, 2023. Recipients of the award demonstrate an exemplary commitment to proclaiming Christ to the world.
We were proud to honor Paul D. Clement, a founding partner at Clement & Murphy, PLLC who served as the 43rd Solicitor General of the United States.
He is a champion of the rule of law and a tireless advocate of global religious freedom. Mr. Clement is widely regarded as one of the most gifted lawyers of his generation. He has argued over 100 cases before the United States Supreme Court, including important religious liberty precedents, such as Little Sisters of the Poor v. Pennsylvania, Burwell v. Hobby Lobby, and Kennedy v. Bremerton School District. In private practice and public service, he has combined professional excellence with a courageous commitment to moral principles and religious liberty. Paul Clement’s courage and his engagement in the public square on issues close to the heart of the Church is an inspirational expression of the new evangelization as envisioned by Saint John Paul II.
