SUMMARY:San Clemente’s Two Millenia: The Living Church Uncovered by Excavation and Discovery
DESCRIPTION:The CIC is delighted to welcome Fr. Paul Lawlor\, OP\, Rector of the Basilica of San Clemente\, on Thursday\, November 13 to share it’s story from the past 2\,000 years. Fr. Lawlor’s presentation—which will be offered both in-person and through a livestream—will take place at 7:00 PM EST\, and he will offer Mass to kick off the evening at 6:15 PM. \nNestled two blocks from the Colosseum\, the Basilica San Clemente is one of the rare sites where\, thanks to 150 years of excavations\, one can descend through two millennia of Roman and Christian history\, down to the sidewalks of first century Rome. Its priceless frescoes\, sacred relics and underground archaeological complex make the Basilica one of the world’s great spiritual and historical treasures. In San Clemente people can rediscover the story of the Christian community\, the story of the Church. Its beauty and mystery have touched lives for generations and its new restoration can continue to evangelize generations to come. \nFr. Lawlor will share the unlikely path that led him to archaeology and what he’s learned while uncovering the Basilica’s rich layers of history. He will also show the early progress of an ambitious project dedicated to San Clemente’s restoration\, which is increasingly attracting the involvement of American Catholics interested in preserving the artistic patrimony of the Church. \nNovember 13th Schedule: \n\n6:00 PM: Doors open; Registrant check-in begins\n6:15 PM: Mass\n7:00 PM: Fr. Paul Lawlor’s presentation “San Clemente’s Two Millenia” – (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream)\n8:00 PM: Enjoy a light Happy (Half) Hour\n8:30 PM: Evening concludes\n\nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:Named for Glory: St. Elizabeth of the Trinity's Identity and Mission (In-Person Only)
DESCRIPTION:“I am going to bury myself in the depths of my soul\, that is\, in God. Will you follow me in this very simple movement?”\n—St. Elizabeth of the Trinity \nSt. Teresa of Avila said that every soul is made for a transforming union with God. In her footsteps\, St. Elizabeth of the Trinity (1880-1906) invites you to rendezvous with her in the interior castle and experience the indwelling presence of the Holy Trinity. Go out into the deep: My Three\, my All! \nWe invite you to join author Julie Enzler at the CIC on Friday\, November 14\, 2025 at 10:00 AM for a discussion of her book about the extraordinary saint known for her mysticism and spiritual writings. (This presentation is offered in-person only.) Julie first discovered St. Elizabeth of the Trinity as a student at Franciscan University and has made her more widely known through courses and the careful translation of Sr. Giovanna della Croce’s Elizabeth of the Trinity: A Life of Praise to God for Sophia Institute Press. \nAbout the Book: \nIn describing her intimate relationship with God\, St. Elizabeth referred to her Divine Bridegroom as “Maestro.” Here\, she guides you in hearing His song and living the chorus of love\, drawing ever closer to His very Heart. Through her powerful spiritual wisdom\, as reflected in her letters to relatives\, loved ones\, and priests\, you will find: \n\nHow to live in the freedom of silence and recollection and remain absorbed in love of God while fulfilling practical demands\nGuidance on offering your life to God by uniting yourself to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist\nWays to deepen your life of prayer to experience the Holy Trinity’s indwelling presence\nThe secret to letting go and clinging to God with the intimacy of a contemplative gaze\nHow to imitate Mary in offering your life as a House of God\, Praise of Glory\, and Host of Praise\nSt. Elizabeth’s Oblation to the Trinity and how to enter the Furnace of Love in the altar of your heart\n\nIn these awe-inspiring pages\, St. Elizabeth unveils the union that you were made to enjoy through Our Lady\, Queen of Martyrs and Gate of Heaven. By reflecting on her name and vocation as Virgin\, Spouse\, and Mother\, St. Elizabeth invites us to answer the universal call to holiness so that our lives will also flow into the very life of God — and His life will flow into ours. By imitating our Blessed Mother in her deep simplicity and making little acts of love and sacrifice each day\, we unite with Jesus in the Sacred Host\, become living oblations\, and thus glorify our Crucified and Risen Lord. \nThe morning-time talk is offered for those with alternative work schedules from the “normal” 9-to-5. The session will include a coffee social\, and will be held in-person only. \nNamed for Glory is available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nOctober 14th Morning Schedule: \n\n9:30 am: Doors open for registrant check-in. Help yourself to a cup of coffee\, and find a seat.\n10:00 am: Presentation by Julie Enzler\n11:00 am: Lecture ends\, but stay for another cup of coffee. You will have the opportunity to purchase the book\, and get it signed by Julie.\n\nLastly\, we invite all attendees to stay for the CIC’s daily Mass at noon. Confessions will be offered before and after Mass. \nRSVP for Julie Enzler’s Named for Glory today!

Sullivan — Judge\, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit\nHon. Stephanos Bibas — Judge\, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit\nWilliam M. M. SUMMARY:Coached by the Curé
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to a talk by Kevin Wells on his latest book\, Coached by the Curé: Lessons in Shepherding with St. John Vianney\, on Thursday\, November 20 at 6:00 PM EST. This program will be offered both in-person and virtually through a livestream. \nAbout the Book: \nIn this imaginative “letter from Heaven”\, the heartfelt voice of the Curé coaches today’s parents and laity on how to save their lost lambs in these modern days of moral collapse. At an hour when the consciences of Catholic youth and young adults are hourly invaded by a modernist secular culture – and so few clergy are regarded as their rescuers – St. John Vianney emerges  in this book as a titan and rescuer of souls. \nCoached by the Curé captivates readers from the start\, when a gathering of priest-saints from the heavenly court begin to discuss the state of a wounded worldwide presbyterate. After the raw diagnosis\, the humble Curé is given a new name by God. He is told he is no longer “The Patron Saint of Parish Priests”\, but now\, “The Patron Saint of the Domestic Home.” It is the humble Curé’s task to instruct parents – not the many modern priests who’ve rejected him – how to become the domestic priests in their homes. His letter from heaven – aided by his muse\, the martyr St. Philomena – has been written for a single reason: to bring the millions of wandering souls back to grace. Through his holy life in Ars\, Vianney shows parents how they can save their lost ones through the manner in which he brought an entire guillotine-haunted nation back to the Catholic faith. \nWe learn why Vianney turned himself over to poor sinners: He understood  he was the shepherd of their souls. Coached by the Curé is a loving dialogue between the travailed reader and the heart of a saint – a saving martyr who sacrificed all for the sake of even one single soul. Herein\, Vianney coaches his  saintly characteristics into modern man\, so that we can all  learn the self-offering and self-giving needed to protect and save our lost loved ones. \nCoached by the Cure is available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \n11/20 Schedule: \n\n5:40 PM: Doors open for registrant check-in\n6:00 PM: Kevin Wells on “Coached by the Curé” (This portion will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream)\n7:00 PM: Book signing by Kevin Wells and a light happy hour\n8:00 PM: Evening concludes\n\nPlease RSVP today!

SUMMARY:Fr. Gregory Pine\, O.P. and "Your Eucharistic Identity"
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, November 24th\, Fr. Gregory Pine\, O.P. returns to the CIC for a talk on his latest book\, Your Eucharistic Identity: A Sacramental Guide to the Fullness of Life. \nHis presentation takes place at 7:00 PM EST\, and will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream. Before his talk\, Father will celebrate Mass for attendees at 6:15 PM. After Fr. Pine’s talk\, you will have the chance to purchase Your Eucharistic Identity and get it signed. \nThis program is co-sponsored by the Institute for Human Ecology (IHE) at The Catholic University of America. \nNovember 24th Schedule: \n\n6:00 PM: Doors open; Registrant check-in begins\n6:15 PM: Mass celebrated by Fr. Pine\n7:00 PM: “Your Eucharistic Identity” presentation – this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream\n8:00 PM: Booksigning with Father and enjoy a light happy hour\n9:00 PM: Evening concludes\n\nAbout the Book:  \nThe Eucharist is no mere symbol. It is the key to life. More specifically\, it is the key to your very identity. \nWhen we look carefully at the Blessed Sacrament\, under the signs of bread and wine\, we discover that we were made not simply to receive God\, to be nourished by his gifts\, or to draw close to him. In fact\, “we were made to become Him.” In Your Eucharistic Identity\, Fr. Gregory Pine shows that Christ\, through the Sacrament\, divinizes us in our whole being. \nBut the Eucharist is not magic. We have to receive the gift of his Eucharistic presence\, and preparing for such a great banquet requires time\, work\, and attention. To become like Christ\, we must be ready to be given to others\, in a free\, radical gift of love. \nFather Pine’s sacramental guide to the fullness of life—at once thought-provoking and practical\, ancient and new—offers Christians a simple\, clear guide for their path. \nYour Eucharistic Identity is available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nRSVP today!
