SUMMARY:Visions of the Divine
DESCRIPTION:The CIC is pleased to welcome back Catholic evangelist\, businessman\, and author Stephen Auth for a discussion of his latest book\, Visions of the Divine: An Artistic Journey Into the Mystery of the Eucharist. This program will be offered both in-person and virtually through a livestream. \n10/22 Schedule: \n\n5:40 pm EDT: Registration check-in begins\n6:00 pm EDT: “Visions of the Divine” presentation by Steve Auth (this portion will be offered both in-person and through a livestream)\n7:00 pm EDT: Booksigning and a light happy hour\n8:00 pm EDT: The evening concludes\n\nVisions of the Divine is available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore. \nABOUT THE BOOK: \nIn Visions of the Divine\, Steve Auth reunites the art of the Eucharist with the Eucharistic liturgy itself. Much of this art was separated from the context of the Mass for which it was created many centuries ago and is relegated now to museums sprinkled around the world. Along with his co-authors Evelyn Auth and Msgr. Roger Landry\, Steve leads the reader on a worldwide pilgrimage to some of the most spectacular and moving artistic masterpieces created over the millennia to help clergy and laity alike penetrate more deeply into the Eucharistic mystery. Journeying to museums and churches in nearly 20 cities across the United States and Europe\, the authors will guide you through the liturgy of the Mass in ways you may never have experienced. \nWhether you attend church out of obligation\, for the sense of community you find there\, or for the Eucharistic presence itself\, Visions of the Divine will help you make these experiences richer\, more vibrant\, and more fulfilling. And if you’ve never attended a Roman Catholic Mass and are curious about what happens there\, Visions will give you an experience guaranteed to leave you thirsting for more. \nNarrated in the author’s simple\, emotive style\, Visions of the Divine presents you with dozens of colorful images of thought-provoking art that will immerse you in each element of the Mass at a deeper and more profound level\, including: \n\nHow the simple act of making the Sign of the Cross\, which the average Catholic does eight times during the liturgy\, can make you cry\nQuieting your mind to listen more actively to the Word of God and to imagine yourself in the moment as the Word is proclaimed and the author guides you through some of the Scriptures’ most iconic messages\nImagining the Apostles’ Creed as it was carved and painted into one of Europe’s most colorful Catholic churches\nMeditating on a lasting image of eternity while the collection basket is passed — a practice that will forever change how you think about this relatively prosaic element of the liturgy\nReliving the sacrifice and triumph of Christ on Calvary during the Eucharistic prayers through some of the greatest artistic masterpieces ever created\nFollowing the path of biblical figures\, such as Mary Magdalene\, the prodigal son\, and St. Paul himself\, to freely receive Christ’s healing mercy\, forgiveness\, peace\, and love at Mass\nExperiencing the sacrament of Holy Communion for what it truly is — communion with God Himself\nHow to re-enter the world following the Mass with visual images in your head that will make you a more effective evangelist\n\nFrom Rembrandt\, El Greco\, and Van Gogh to Michelangelo\, da Vinci\, and Raphael; from Velaquez\, Picasso\, and Dali to lesser-known greats\, such as Pontormo\, Masaccio and Drolling\, the array of breathtaking art in Steve Auth’s Visions of the Divine will enlighten your path to communion with God. You will witness our Father’s love for you and be encouraged to let yourself be loved by Him within the Eucharistic mystery.

SUMMARY:The Company We Keep
DESCRIPTION:“No one has greater love than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” –John 15:13 \nWhat does it mean to live friendship as a Christian? In a culture of fleeting connections and digital noise\, The Company We Keep offers a compelling return to the wisdom of Aristotle\, St. Thomas Aquinas\, the Gospel\, and Christian tradition to rediscover the lost art and meaning of true friendship as a vital part of holiness and discipleship. \nJoin Catholic philosopher and author Michael Pakaluk at the CIC for the launch of his latest book on Friday\, October 10th at 2:00 PM EDT. \nIn The Company We Keep: True Friendship and Why it Matters\, Dr. Pakaluk invites the reader to see friendship not as optional\, but essential: a moral\, spiritual\, and deeply human bond that reflects our highest calling. SUMMARY:The Dignity of Dependence
DESCRIPTION:The CIC is pleased to welcome author Leah Libresco Sargeant for the launch of her latest book\, The Dignity of Dependence: A Feminist Manifesto (Catholic Ideas for a Secular World) on Tuesday\, October 7\, 2025 at 6:00 PM. \nThe Dignity of Dependence argues that women’s equal rights depend on advocating for women as women. \nThe world is not ready to welcome women as women; a culture that fears dependence and asks everyone to aim for autonomy and independence will always be a society hostile to women. Women are expected to care for those around them while living in a society that despises need and penalizes those who care for the weak. \nThe Dignity of Dependence aims to liberate women and men from this corrosive and false ideal of the human person as strongest alone. Leah Libresco Sargeant argues that to thrive\, human beings need to exist in webs of mutual dependence\, not in isolating\, radical autonomy. Women’s equal dignity doesn’t require women to deny biological reality or attempt to be interchangeable with men. Sargeant advocates for building a culture that accepts and celebrates women as they are rather than demanding that women keep their relationships and their bodies in check. The fight for women’s dignity is a fight for a full\, human dignity―a dignity that isn’t threatened by dependence. It is our need for each other that makes us human. \nMrs. Sargeant’s talk will be offered both in-person and virtually through a livestream \nOctober 7th Schedule: \n\n5:40 pm EDT: Doors open for registrant check-in\n6:00 pm EDT: Leah Libresco Sargeant’s presentation (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream)\n7:00 pm EDT: Booksigning by the author and a light happy hour\n8:00 pm EDT: Conclusion\n\nThe Dignity of Dependence will be available to purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:Holy Ambition: Thriving as a Catholic Woman at Work and at Home
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, September 11\, 2025 (New Date!) at 7:00 PM EDT for a panel discussion with professional Catholic women led by Elise Crawford Gallagher\, founder of Catholic Women in Business and co-author of Holy Ambition: Thriving as a Catholic Woman at Work and at Home. Elise will discuss the reasons why she and her co-author Taryn DeLong wrote their book and then lead a compelling panel discussion with two Catholic women Regina Bethencourt and Elizabeth Marcolini\, who are striving to be professionals\, wives\, and mothers living spiritually integrated lives. \nEvening Schedule: \n\n6:40 pm EDT: Doors open for registrant check-in\n7:00 pm EDT: Panel discussion\n8:00 pm EDT: Booksigning and light happy (half) hour\n8:30 pm EDT: Conclusion\n\nHoly Ambition is available to purchase at the CIC bookstore. RSVP today! \n________________________ \nAbout the Book:  \nWhether you are an entrepreneur (or aspiring entrepreneur)\, a business or nonprofit professional\, or a business student\, Holy Ambition: Thriving as a Catholic Woman at Work and at Home will help you navigate work and life with Christ at the center of it all\, recognizing that our most ambitious calling is to be saints. \nAuthors Taryn DeLong and Elise Crawford Gallagher draw from Catholic Women in Business\, their online community of more than five thousand Catholic professional women\, to answer some of the most pressing questions about what it means to fully live out your vocation as an ambitious Catholic businesswoman\, recognizing that the specifics can vary from woman to woman and from one season of life to the next. Each chapter includes wisdom and insights from saints and courageous women past and present who serve as mentors\, role models\, and friends. \nSome of the questions addressed in Holy Ambition include the following: \n\nAm I discerning God’s will for my life correctly? (Learn from St. Teresa of Calcutta\, who persevered during times when she could not hear God’s voice.)\nIs it OK to be ambitious and build wealth? (Be encouraged by St. Jane Frances de Chantal\, who used her ambition and wealth for good—to protect her children.)\nHow can I practice my faith in a secular environment? (Be inspired by St. Gianna Molla\, who built up her medical practice with unwavering faith.)\nHow can I cultivate good relationships and get along with difficult people? (Meet St. Thérèse of Lisieux\, whose “little way” enabled her to love even the most irritating and disagreeable of her religious sisters.)\nHow can I succeed at work while being open to new life? (Discover how St. Zélie Martin found the balance between work and family life.)\nHow can I make a difference as a Catholic entrepreneur? (See how Catherine de Hueck Doherty fought against Communism by helping the poor\, the very people targeted by the Communists.)\n\nWith the turn of each page\, you will deepen your understanding of the feminine genius and discover how “women imbued with the spirit of the Gospel can do so much to aid humanity in not falling” (St. John Paul II). The lived experiences of these women will encourage you to discover and thrive in God’s unique and unrepeatable plan for your life. \nChapter questions for reflection and discussion make this the perfect choice for book clubs and small-group discussions. \n

SUMMARY:The Shock of Holiness
DESCRIPTION:Is holiness actually shocking? What is romantic about the everyday life of a holy person?  Philosopher and author Michael Pakaluk seeks to answer those questions and challenge readers to pursue both holiness and romance in his new book\, The Shock of Holiness: Finding the Romance of Everyday Life. \nThe CIC invites you to join Dr. Michael Pakaluk for the launch of his new book here on Wednesday\, August 27\, 2025 at 6:00 PM EDT. \nIn The Shock of Holiness\, Dr. Pakaluk invites readers to ponder not only the extraordinary witnesses of the saints but also the smaller instances of grace in everyday life — from the holiness of mothers at daily Mass to thoughts on a crucifix versus a cross to a concise reasoning of Jesus’ true presence in the Eucharist. \nHe will discuss some of the most basic challenges in life — marriage and sex\, contraception\, sacrifice\, raising children\, and emulating the saints — and how holiness in those places can be achieved. \nAugust 27th Schedule: \n\n5:40 pm EDT: Doors open for registrant check-in\n6:00 pm EDT: Michael Pakaluk’s presentation (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream)\n7:00 pm EDT: Booksigning by Dr. Pakaluk and a light happy hour\n8:00 pm EDT: Conclusion\n\nThe Shock of Holiness will be available to purchase at the CIC bookstore. SUMMARY:Natural Religion and the American Founding
DESCRIPTION:The CIC invites you to our upcoming program on June 25th\, “Natural Religion and the American Founding\,” presented by Edward J. Furton\, MA\, PhD\, Director of Publications at The National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC). \nThank you to both NCBC and the Elizabeth Bayley Seton Assembly #1781 of the Knights of Columbus for co-sponsoring this session. \nThe talk be offered both in-person and virtually through a livestream. All in-person attendees will receive a free book (courtesy of NCBC) in honor of the nation’s upcoming semiquincentennial\, Scholasticism in the Colonial Colleges by James J. Walsh. \nAbout this Session: \nAn Argumentative Strategy Grounded in Historical Fact that Justifies the Return of the Founding Truths to American Public Life \nDr. Furton delves into the educational background of the American Founders\, who were educated in the scholastic tradition of the Middle Ages\, as James J. Walsh shows in Scholasticism in the Colonial Colleges. Like Christians of the medieval era\, they were taught to distinguish between faith and reason\, a distinction crucial to our political union in 1776. \nThe colonies were at odds with each other over the doctrinal teachings of Christianity. The representatives at the Second Continental Congress set aside these differences and returned to what they had learned in the colleges. They joined the nation under theological and moral truths that are agreeable to reason. These convictions are the first principles of our political union\, are not subject to church-state separation\, and must be restored to our nation’s public life. \nSchedule: \n\n6:40 pm EDT: Doors open for registrant check-in\n7:00 pm EDT: “Natural Religion and the American Founding” presentation by Dr. Furton (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream)\n8:00 pm EDT: Light reception\n8:30 pm EDT: Conclusion\n\nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:Monsignor Charles Pope's "The Hell There Is"
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join Msgr. Charles Pope on Tuesday\, June 24\, 2025 for a discussion of his new book\, The Hell There Is: An Exploration of an Often-Rejected Doctrine of the Church. Monsignor will celebrate Mass as well at 5:30 PM EDT. His presentation talk will begin at 6:15 PM\, followed by a booksigning and light happy hour. The Hell There Is is available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore. \nThe talk be offered both in-person and virtually through a livestream. \nAbout The Hell There Is: \n“Of all the theological errors commonly held today\, the most popular is surely the denial of the doctrine of hell.”\n—Msgr. Charles Pope \nEven self-described Christians question whether God would consign anyone to hell. Msgr. Pope explains this false perception: “If it exists at all\, it is largely empty\, except perhaps for a few serial killers or genocidal maniacs like Hitler.” People who adopt this belief are ignoring Jesus’s teachings that instruct the exact opposite. \nIn The Hell There Is\, Msgr. Pope defends the doctrine of hell against doubters and skeptics. The reader will learn how God has largely been refashioned and trivialized in much of modern thinking. The God of Scripture has been replaced by the “Jesus I know\,” who would never impose demands on anyone. As in the past\, those nowadays who invent their own god engage in idolatry. By denying the existence of hell\, they choose a false god who is indifferent to their spiritual condition over the true God who makes demands on those He desires to save. \nMsgr. Pope argues persuasively why hell plays a central role in God’s plan of salvation\, based on a detailed examination of the scriptural evidence. A thorough explication of the teachings of Jesus on hell provides a convincing refutation of commonly heard claims that He never spoke about eternal punishment. Important questions about hell are answered completely based on sources from both Scripture and Tradition\, including theologically sound insights from Dante’s Inferno. EWTN News In Depth host Catherine Hadro joins the program to lead the discussion with Dr. Bunson. \nThis presentation is offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream. \nAbout Dr. Bunson’s Book: \nThe smoke clears. The world watches. A name is announced. A man steps forward and the earth’s gaze falls upon him. \nWe have a Pope! And his name is Leo XIV. \nBut who is this 266th successor to St. Peter? With unmatched access\, deep sources in Rome\, and a reputation for integrity and insight\, Bunson delivers a compelling\, richly textured narrative of the new pope’s life\, beliefs\, and improbable journey to the Chair of St. Peter. \nIn this comprehensive and deeply satisfying account\, you will discover: \n\nHis birth at Mercy Hospital and early life in Dolton\, just outside South Side Chicago\nHis classic American Catholic upbringing\, from the moment the legacy institutions began to decline\nSuburban Chicago as the quintessential microcosm of the Church in America\nThe Augustinian intellectual heritage\, and the sketches of the Augustinian saints in his pectoral cross\nPeru as a place of mission: its geography\, culture\, and the history of Catholicism in northwest South America\nLeo as a fully American pope shaped by both the U.S. and Latin America\nCardinal Prevost’s Vatican career culminating in his appointment as prefect for the Dicastery for Bishops\nHis relationship with Pope Francis\, and early decisions that signal a desire to place himself within the Church’s tradition\n\nAccessible\, informative\, and rooted in journalistic rigor and an intimate understanding of the Church\, Leo XIV: Portrait of the First American Pope is essential reading for anyone seeking to understand the man inside the white cassock—and the moment in which he will reign. \n6/9/2025 Program Schedule: \n\n5:45 pm EDT: Doors open for registrant check-in\n6:00 pm EDT: Presentation by Dr. Matthew Bunson on his new book (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream)\n7:00 pm EDT: Booksigning by Dr. Bunson and a light happy hour\n7:30 pm EDT: Conclusion\n\nLeo XIV: Portrait of the First American Pope will be available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore. \nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:Return to Me: Visits to the Tabernacle
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join Tin Can Pilgrim Lynda Rozell at the CIC on Monday\, May 5\, 2025 at 6:00 PM EDT for a discussion of her book\, Return to Me: Visits to the Tabernacle. The presentation will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream. \nReturn to Me: Visits to the Tabernacle discusses tabernacle images with reflections on their symbolism\, encouraging devotion to Jesus in the tabernacle and drawing readers to adoration at the tabernacle outside of a formal holy hour. Organized under the themes of Nourishment\, Sacrifice\, Jesus\, Spirit\, Church\, and Mission\, this book helps readers deepen their devotion to Jesus in His Real Presence. In addition to reflections from Scripture and tradition\, Return to Me includes photographs of tabernacles visited by the author to help guide the reader’s prayer and meditation. In so doing\, they show the reader how to use visual images as a starting point for prayer\, teaching readers how to enter more fully into their personal conversations with Christ by prayerfully “reading” their own tabernacle and those they encounter in their busy lives. \nMs. Rozell’s books are available for purchase at the Catholic Information Center bookstore. \nMay 5th Schedule:\n\n5:45 PM: Registrant check-in begins\n6:00-7:00 PM: Presentation (this portion will be live-streamed)\n7:00-8:00 PM: Book signing by Lynda Rozell and light happy hour\n8:00 PM: Evening concludes\n\nRSVP today to join us in-person or through the livestream for this event!

SUMMARY:Ida Friederike Görres’ "John Henry Newman: A Life Sacrificed"
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wedensday\, April 30\, 2025 at 6:00 PM EDT for Jennifer Bryson’s presentation of “Ida Friederike Görres’ John Henry Newman: A Life Sacrificed.” The presentation will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream. This program is co-sponsored by the Institute of Human Ecology at the Catholic University of America. \nThis unparalleled introduction to St. John Henry Newman—mind\, heart\, soul\, and personality—brings the great cardinal to life before our eyes\, and with him the charged air of nineteenth-century England. Drawing from his letters\, writings\, and journal entries with precision and poetic flair\, the book is one of Ida Friederike Görres’ masterworks. \nWhile famous for his brilliance\, Cardinal Newman did not hide in an ivory tower. His life was one of risk\, sacrifice\, and immense charity. His sharp turn to Catholicism rocked the University of Oxford\, costing him his friendships\, his livelihood\, and his identity. Through failures and disappointments\, over and over again\, Newman let himself be recreated by God. \nThis work\, in Görres’ words\, is a portrait of “the boy\, puzzled\, who was startled and overwhelmed by God; the active\, creative young prophet of his church in crisis; the hermit\, who he was and wanted to be all his life; and the fighter\, who he was with and against his will: the saint of the Church and the saint of humility\, the one perfected in sacrifice”. \nWith an in-depth introduction by Ratzinger Prize winner Hanna-Barbara Gerl-Falkovitz\, an extensive commentary by translator Jennifer S. Bryson\, and a detailed index\, the book introduces readers not only to St. John Henry Newman\, but to Görres\, one of the greatest hagiographers of the twentieth century\, whose spiritual writings have only recently been discovered by the English-speaking world. \nIda Friederike Görres’ John Henry Newman: A Life Sacrificed (translated by Dr. Bryson) is available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nApril 30th Schedule:\n\n5:40 PM: Registrant check-in begins.\n6:00-7:00 PM: Presentation (this portion will be live-streamed)\n7:00-8:00 PM: Book signing by Jennifer Bryson and light happy hour\n8:00 PM: Conclusion\n\nRSVP today to join us in-person or through the livestream for this event!

SUMMARY:Anxiety: A Catholic Guide to Freedom from Worry and Fear
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, April 22\, 2025 for “Anxiety: A Catholic Guide to Freedom from Worry and Fear” with Art and Laraine Bennett and Dr. Lianna Bennett Haider. This book launch will be offered at 6:00 PM EDT both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream. \nDid you know that the latest research shows that one in three people will meet the criteria for anxiety disorder at some point in their lives? \nEven those of us who do not require professional help have certainly experienced the crippling effects of anxiety. \nWorld events\, lockdowns\, the destruction of traditional values\, the rise of omnipresent screens and social media have all certainly contributed to the climbing levels of anxiety in today’s world. \nCatholics are not immune and may be searching for a solution that is both Catholic and clinically sound. \nAnxiety. Even the saints struggled with its effects. From excessive worry about the future to ruminating about the past\, anxiety can steal your joy\, impact your health\, and negatively affect your spiritual life. \nWhether you experience brain fog\, scrupulosity\, panic attacks\, or are constantly overwhelmed\, it is possible to regain control of your life and experience freedom from anxiety. \nWhether you or a loved one are struggling with anxiety\, this book will help you understand it and take the steps necessary to remediate it and restore your tranquility. \nThe Bennetts’ book Anxiety is a tremendous resource for those suffering and for those who aid them. It is replete with absorbing\, real-life stories about individuals who endured various forms of anxiety and found healing through practical and spiritual means. \nIn these liberating pages\, you will discover how your brain works; how biology\, temperament\, and past experiences contribute to anxiety; how to respond to anxiety calmly and rationally; and how to evaluate professional-help options. You will discover: \n\nTested remedies and exercises to assist you in regaining your calm when you are triggered\nPractical tips for coping with insomnia\, stress\, and fear\nFour ways to reframe difficult situations\, whether socially or at work\, and thereby grow in virtue\nWhat to do when coping mechanisms become harmful\nHow to train your brain to rest in the present moment\, regardless of what is happening\nMethods to help liberate individuals from trauma and attain serenity and renewed dignity\n\n“Anxiety is one of the authorities\, powers\, and dominions over which the Lord triumphed on the Cross and which he carried off captive and placed in chains\,” wrote Hans Urs von Balthasar. Through these stories of liberation\, you will be consoled that God has given us the capacity to heal\, to have our mental health restored\, and to find lasting happiness. \nApril 22nd Schedule:\n\n5:40 PM: Registrant check-in begins.\n6:00-7:00 PM: “Anxiety” presentation (this portion will be live-streamed)\n7:00-8:00 PM: Book signing and light happy hour\n8:00 PM: Conclusion\n\nAnxiety\, published by Sophia Institute Press\, will be available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore. \nRSVP today to join us in-person or through the livestream for this event!

SUMMARY:The Martyrs of the New Millennium
DESCRIPTION:The CIC is pleased to invite you to the launch of Robert Royal’s new book\, The Martyrs of the New Millennium\, on Wednesday\, April 16\, 2025 at 6:00 PM EDT. The program will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream. \nThis book is the thundering voice of the martyrs of our time. Though mostly overlooked\, the harrowing stories of hundreds of thousands of fellow Christians from around the world who gave their lives for the Faith in recent years — including in full-scale genocides of Christians in several countries — are a part of our history crying out to be told. Here is that history. \nDr. Royal chronicles the heartrending stories of heroic priests\, religious\, and laypeople who are being brutally persecuted\, tortured\, and martyred today by various groups\, including Islamists\, criminal gangs\, political extremists\, and satanic cults. He reveals how thousands more are right now living courageously under oppressive regimes facing similar threats and dangers daily. \nThese are our brothers and sisters in the Faith\, the saints in our midst! You will learn about them\, the role spiritual combat plays in their persecution\, and how you can help alleviate their suffering. While doing so you will also discover: \n\nHow the early Christian martyrs provided one of the first “books of spirituality”\nThe true definition of a Christian martyr and five criteria to be considered a martyr\nTeachings of recent popes on the new martyrdom\, including oblatio vitae\nHow “blasphemy laws” are misconstrued to accuse and condemn Christians unjustly\nThe most dangerous place to be a Catholic priest (You will be shocked!)\nThe country where nine out of ten Christians martyrs worldwide are killed\nThe tremendous sufferings of “white martyrs” and red martyrs\n\nIn these gripping pages\, you will also see how even Christians who aren’t martyrs by definition continue to be powerful witnesses amid the most dire circumstances\, proclaiming the true Faith and radiating God’s light in the face of the most diabolical cruelty. \nThis watershed work gives Tertullian’s famous words “the blood of martyrs is the seed of the Church” an entirely new meaning. \nApril 16th Schedule:\n\n5:40 PM: Registrant check-in begins.\n6:00-7:00 PM: “The Martyrs of the New Millennium” presentation (this portion will be live-streamed)\n7:00-8:00 PM: Book signing and light happy hour\n7:45 PM: Conclusion\n\nDr. Royal’s book will be available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore. \nRSVP today to join us in-person or through the livestream for this event!

SUMMARY:Cleanup on Aisle Mine
DESCRIPTION:The CIC\, Napa Institute\, and Catholic Leadership Institute invite you to register for our April 3rd event with author Dan Cellucci. He will be joining us to discuss his new book\, Cleanup on Aisle Mine: Learning about Life\, Leadership\, and the Lord in the Day-to-Day. \nSo\, what do a 5-year-old kleptomaniac\, an infuriating exchange with a rental car agent\, and regular trips to Rome have in common? They are among the hilarious and heartwarming life lessons in this daily reflection book. \nIn Cleanup on Aisle Mine\, Dan curates nearly eight years of his experience as a millennial husband\, father\, and CEO of a national Catholic nonprofit as he weaves together wisdom from modern-day popes and his own faith journey in this collection of accessible tales. \nHis self-deprecating humor and radical vulnerability allow the reader to hold up a mirror as they read each day’s brief vignette and walk away with a much deeper insight on life\, leadership\, and the undeniable presence of God in the simplest of moments. This book will quickly become a favorite part of your daily routine as Dan offers his own examination of conscience as an invitation for you to consider what more God might be calling you to tomorrow. \nCleanup on Aisle Mine will be available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nOur Schedule on April 3rd: \n\n5:00 pm EDT: Doors open for registrant check-in\n5:15 pm EDT: Mass in the CIC chapel\n6:00 pm EDT: “Cleanup on Aisle Mine” presentation by Dan Cellucci (this portion will be offered virtually via a livestream)\n7:00 pm EDT: Booksigning by Dan and a light happy hour\n8:00 pm EDT: Conclusion\n\nThank you to our event co-sponsors\, the Napa Institute and Catholic Leadership Institute. \nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:A Bell for Nagasaki
DESCRIPTION:Professor James L. Nolan\, Jr.\, Washington Gladden 1859 Professor of Sociology at Williams College and author of Atomic Doctors\, will discuss the unique manner in which the Catholics of Nagasaki responded to the plutonium bomb that was dropped on their city on 9 August 1945. \nThe Fat Man bomb demolished Nagasaki’s Urakami Cathedral (the largest Catholic Church in East Asia at the time). In spite of seemingly insurmountable odds\, the cathedral was rebuilt by the community in the years after the war. Included in the new building is one of the original bells recovered from beneath the rubble of the ruins. The other bell was destroyed and to this day the left tower of the rebuilt cathedral remains empty. \nAt the invitation of a parishioner at the cathedral and with the blessing of the Archbishop of Nagasaki\, Nolan is leading the Nagasaki Bell Project\, an effort to replace the second bell and install it before the 80th anniversary of the bombing (August 9\, 2025). This gift from American Catholics to their fellow Japanese Catholics is a beautiful project and a transcendent way to find healing from such a cataclysmic event. \nFriday\, 3/28/2025 Schedule: \n\n5:00 pm EDT: Doors open for registrant check-in\n5:30 pm EDT: “A Bell for Nagasaki” presentation by Prof. Nolan (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream) with Q&A\n6:30 pm EDT: Atomic Doctors book signing & light happy (half) hour with Prof. Nolan\n7:15 pm EDT: Conclusion\n\n“A Bell for Nagasaki” is offered for both in-person and virtual attendance. Copies of Atomic Doctors are available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore. \nThank you to our event co-sponsor\, the Institute for Human Ecology (IHE) at The Catholic University of America. \nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:The Philos Project & CIC's "Catholics and Antisemitism—Facing the Past\, Shaping the Future"
DESCRIPTION:Join the CIC and the Philos Project’s Philos Catholic for an important one-day conference\, “Catholics and Antisemitism—Facing the Past\, Shaping the Future\,” at the Catholic Information Center on March 10\, 2025 from 1:15-6:00 PM EDT. This program will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream.\n\nWe will explore the challenges and responsibilities of Catholics in addressing antisemitism in today’s world. This event invites Catholics to reflect not only on the Church’s history and culture but also on the wider social currents that shape attitudes toward the Jewish people and Israel today.   \nHow should Catholics respond to rising antisemitic ideologies? What role do theology and Church teachings—like supersessionism and replacement theology—play in forming Catholic attitudes toward the Jewish people? In a world where Catholics often hear little from the pulpit about issues like Zionism or the occupation of the West Bank but are saturated with media narratives\, how can Catholic leaders offer a faithful\, thoughtful response?   \nThis timely program will also explore how shifting demographics—such as a younger and increasingly traditional Catholic population—might influence trends in Catholic-Jewish relations and how these trends could be leveraged to combat antisemitism.   \nDon’t miss this opportunity to engage with leading voices on a critical issue and to be equipped to infuse the public square with Christ’s beauty\, truth\, and goodness. Our presenters for the day are Dr. Richard Crane\, Mary Eberstadt\, Dr. Russ Hittinger\, Trent Horn\, Kathryn Lopez\, Maggie Phillips\, Jonathan Silver\, and George Weigel offering the keynote address. SUMMARY:Sister\, Soldier\, Surgeon
DESCRIPTION:The CIC and the Napa Institute invite you to register for our next collaboration on Wednesday\, January 22nd\, the book launch of Sister\, Soldier\, Surgeon: The Life and Courage of Sister Deirdre Byrne\, M.D. by Leisa Marie Carzon\, PhD. \nDr. Carzon’s tells the tale of a modern-day Joan of Arc. Whether in scrubs\, camouflage\, or a religious habit\, Sr. Dede Byrne\, in her threefold calling as a professed religious sister\, renowned surgeon\, and U.S. Army colonel\, inspire us to both virtue and action. \nIf the apostles had remained hidden in the Upper Room\, we would never have a Church today. Similarly\, Sister’s inspirational life serves as a call to emerge from the safety of the Upper Room and enter the public square to courageously infuse culture with an unapologetic defense of Christ’s beauty\, truth\, and goodness. \nWhether saving lives on battlefields or outside the doors of abortion clinics\, this exciting narrative offers a rare glimpse into the life of a contemporary heroine who dedicates herself to care of the poor\, love of God and country\, and an unwavering defense of the unborn.
