SUMMARY:What Binds Marriage Forever
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to join us on February 13 at 3:00 PM EST as Dr. Jonathan Bieler outlines Austrian author Ida Friederike Görres’s What Binds Marriage Forever\, which has a new English translation by Jennifer S. Bryson being released. He is an assistant professor of patrology and systematic theology at Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage & Family at The Catholic University of America. \nRSVP to join us in-person or virtually through the livestream. \nGörres’s What Binds Marriage Forever is a startlingly relevant and engaging defense of the indissolubility of marriage. Görres reflects on the nature of marriage in relation to human anthropology. She presents her case with a sensitive and realistic view of the sometimes lovely\, sometimes challenging relations in marriage between a man and a woman. \nAgainst those who claim that indissolubility is “unnatural\,” Görres demonstrates how the Church’s teaching balances eros and kinship\, the two main poles of intimacy found in human cultures. Görres explains how the Catholic sacrament of marriage elevates the significance of the marriage bond\, even in cases of unwilled infertility. \nIndissolubility\, argues Görres\, uniquely supports the emergence of wholesome love within marriage. For those who may be struggling\, she offers precious insights. Along the way\, Görres reveals how efforts to undermine the Church’s teaching on marriage are linked to broader attempts to unmoor Catholic theology at its roots. \nGörres’s valuable contribution to modern debates about marriage was first published in 1971\, when the sexual revolution was transitioning from a threat at the walls of the Church to a mindset some were attempting to smuggle inside. Today\, as marriage faces ever more challenges and debates within the Church continue\, What Binds Marriage Forever\, forgotten for over fifty years\, is now available in English translation for the first time. \nIda Friederike Görres (1901–1971) was a prominent Catholic writer in German-speaking Europe. In his eulogy for her\, Fr. Joseph Ratzinger praised how Görres “spoke with an insightful certainty and a fearlessness about the pressing questions and tasks of the Church today.” In 2025\, Bishop Erik Varden called her\, “A crucial voice for the present moment.” \nIn his introduction\, Jonathan Bieler highlights the book’s central themes and he will do the same during this program. For this English edition\, the translator has added a study guide with questions for personal reflection\, classroom use\, and book clubs. \nView the book’s trailer. \nRead this interview with translator Jennifer Bryson by the Catholic University of America Press. \nFebruary 13th Schedule: \n\n3:00 PM: Presentation begins – this portion of the afternoon will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream\n4:00 PM: Coffee social and a chance to buy the book\n4:30 PM: Afternoon concludes\n\n

SUMMARY:Seeking the Spirit Within
DESCRIPTION:Discover the power of breathing to draw closer to God. \nYou are invited to join author Shereen Yusuff for the launch of her new book\, Seeking the Spirit Within: Experiencing Union with God Through Breath\, on Tuesday\, February 3\, 2026 at 6:00 PM EST. After the talk\, stay for a booksigning with Shereen and a light happy hour. Seeking the Spirit Within will be available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nRSVP to attend the presentation either in-person or virtually through the livestream. \nFebruary 3rd Schedule: \n\n5:45 PM: Doors open for registrant check-in\n6:00 PM: “Seeking the Spirit Within” presentation – this portion of the program will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream\n7:00 PM: Booksigning and light happy hour\n8:00 PM: Evening concludes\n\n\nAbout the Book: \nAuthor Shereen Yusuff\, a certified breath and movement coach\, has created a step-by-step guide that offers healing for your body and soul—and it all begins with your next breath. \n“Shereen’s journey is amazing\, led by the wind\, the carrier of God’s holiness. Keep on\, Shereen\, serene and clear\, strong and humble.” \n—Wim Hof\, the Iceman \nEach breath is an invitation and an opportunity to rediscover we are meant for more than mere survival: we are meant to be alive. When God filled us with His own breath\, He chose our lungs to hold us together as body and soul\, creatures who are miraculously the very dwelling place of the Holy Spirit. And yet we often live divided\, disconnected from ourselves\, our bodies\, and Godʼs presence within us. But there is another way. \nIn Seeking the Spirit Within\, Shereen Yusuff\, a certified breath and movement coach and Benedictine oblate\, offers exercises that teach readers anew to pay attention\, breathe\, and pray. She demonstrates that itʼs impossible to care for the body without caring for the soul and that the deepest source of our healing is Christ in us. \nEach chapter of the book carefully guides readers in a practice of spiritual reflections inspired by Scripture\, breathing and attention exercises\, and reflection questions. With Yusuff’s guidance\, readers will: \n\nunderstand the scientific and spiritual reasons why intentional breathing is both physically and spiritually healing\npractice self-examination\ngrow comfortable with discomfort\nlearn to rest more deeply\nconnect with Godʼs infinite love\n\nSeeking the Spirit Within is for any reader yearning for intimacy with God and a seamless integration of physical and spiritual wellness.

But what if these casual enjoyments turn into unhealthy habits? For many\, drinking can easily become a dysfunctional coping mechanism or a dependency that’s difficult to break. \nIn Freely Sober\, Ericka Andersen invites Christian women to reconsider their relationship with alcohol from a posture of honesty\, curiosity\, and self-compassion\, offering empowering knowledge and trusted recovery principles for those curious about sobriety or seeking a way out of a habitual or destructive relationship with alcohol. \nAndersen vulnerably shares her own story of sobriety\, reflecting on how her private drinking habits began impacting her faith and life. Through her honest account\, she opens the door for sober curious women of faith to explore their drinking patterns and see clearly to choose what’s best for them. \nFreely Sober features: \n\nPractical Tools for Growth: Includes reflection questions\, action steps\, and assessments designed to help readers see alcohol more clearly\nFaith-Based Guidance: Invites readers to draw closer to God in their sobriety journeys\, leaning on the Holy Spirit and a supportive community for encouragement and accountability\nAccessible for a Variety of Stages: Great for those who are sober curious\, questioning their habits\, or who want to dig deeper into how alcohol affects their life and faith\n\nFreely Sober charts a pathway to new habits\, healing\, and spiritual renewal through God’s abundant grace for those looking for change. Whether you’re struggling yourself with grey area drinking\, are looking to support a friend or family member\, or are a ministry leader looking for resources\, Freely Sober offers wisdom and guidance for a way forward to freedom. \n“You are free to decide―honestly\, thoughtfully―whether your life is better with or without it. You don’t have to quit. You don’t have to cut back. But you can. And you can do it on your own terms\, not because anyone told you to\, but because you’re free to choose what serves you best. You can be freely sober.” \n– Ericka Andersen\, Freely Sober

SUMMARY:Something Wicked
DESCRIPTION:The culture wars have raged for decades\, but with seemingly little success. Christians are losing the cultural battle for family\, life\, and faith. But why? \nThe CIC invites you to join Dr. Carrie Gress here on Wednesday\, January 21\, 2026 at 6:00 PM for the launch of her newest book\, Something Wicked: Why Feminism Can’t Be Fused with Christianity. \nSomething Wicked is Dr. Gress’ riveting look at the underbelly of feminism\, Carrie Gress explains why pro-life and pro-family efforts have failed to deliver. Feminism has quietly captured the minds and hearts of women by mimicking aspects of Christianity. Through its own “commandments\,” “virtues\,” “evangelization\,” and even “a sacrament\,” feminism has become an exceedingly powerful megachurch. \nThis program is co-sponsored by the Institute for Human Ecology (IHE) at The Catholic University of America\, and is available to attend either in-person and virtually through the livestream. \nThe book will be available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nJanuary 21st Program Schedule: \n\n5:45 PM: Doors open for Registrant check-in\n6:00 PM: Presentation by Carrie Gress – this portion of the evening will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream\n7:00 PM: Booksigning with Dr. Gress and a light happy hour\n8:00 PM: Evening concludes\n\nAbout the book: \nSomething Wicked examines that Christians have targeted the specific products of the feminist ideology\, such as abortion and transgenderism\, and have missed the bigger picture of how feminism’s shadow church has captured the psyche of Western women. \nFeminism is all too often perceived\, even among Christians\, as something virtuous that affords women true equality and freedom. Dr. Gress overturns this misconception\, smashing the idol of feminism and exposing its deeply anti-Christian origins. \nDrawing from history\, psychology\, philosophy\, culture\, and common sense\, Dr. Gress explains: \n\nHow early feminists opposed traditional Christianity and espoused occultic practices\nSix ways feminism has become its own religion that mimics the Christian faith\nWhy the feminist idol of women’s autonomy can never lead to happiness\nHow the prioritization of masculine virtues devalued the vital gifts of women\nWhat happens when Christians try to blend their faith with feminism\nWhy the restless search for identity by many adrift in culture is really a grasping for home\nThe vital role that men and the patriarchy play in meeting the needs of all of society\n\nDr. Gress lays out solutions to how womanhood can be viewed afresh\, without feminism’s menace\, healing the ever-growing rift between the sexes\, reconnecting the essential bond of empathy between mother and child\, and restoring God to his rightful place in the hearts of all women.

SUMMARY:The Dead Sea Scrolls and Their Enduring Legacy
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of the Bible’s Dr. Robert “Bobby” Duke is a distinguished scholar of the Bible\, the Dead Sea Scrolls\, and Second Temple Judaism. On December 4 at 6:30 PM EST\, Dr. Duke visits the CIC to bring these ancient texts vividly to life. His presentation reveals the profound historical and theological significance of the Dead Sea Scrolls and offers insight into their enduring impact. \nFrom November 22\, 2025 – September 7\, 2026\, the Museum of the Bible will host a limited exhibition\, featuring hundreds of priceless artifacts that illuminate the world of Jesus. Highlights include the Magdala Stone\, an intricately carved table from Mary Magdalene’s hometown\, where Jesus may have read or taught\, and the awe-inspiring “Jesus Boat\,” a first-century fishing vessel remarkably preserved for 2\,000 years in the Sea of Galilee. Dr. Duke’s engaging presentation brings to light the remarkable treasures of the Dead Sea Scrolls\, uncovering their enduring impact on history\, faith\, and culture. \nImagine holding a fragment of history that once echoed in the hills of Qumran two thousand years ago. That’s the world Dr. Duke will draw us into as he unpacks the Dead Sea Scrolls — texts that capture the prayers\, struggles\, and hopes of a community living at the time of Jesus. Drawing from years of research\, he reveals how these writings trace the transmission of Scripture\, illuminate the everyday faith of ancient Jews\, and connect us to the very roots of Christian and Jewish traditions. Dr. Duke’s engaging presentation invites us to view the Dead Sea Scrolls not merely as ancient artifacts\, but as living documents that have shaped and inspired faith communities for centuries. \n12/4 Schedule: \n\n6:15 PM: Doors open for registrant check-in\n6:30 PM: Dr. Duke on “The Dead Sea Scrolls and Their Enduring Legacy” (This portion will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream)\n7:30 PM: Light happy (half) hour\n8:00 PM: Evening concludes\n\nPlease RSVP today through the form on this page! \nFor more information on the Museum of the Bible’s exhibit: Dead Sea Scrolls: The Exhibition | Museum of the Bible. SUMMARY:Fr. Gregory Pine\, O.P. and "Your Eucharistic Identity"
DESCRIPTION:On Monday\, November 24th\, Fr. Gregory Pine\, O.P. returns to the CIC for a talk on his latest book\, Your Eucharistic Identity: A Sacramental Guide to the Fullness of Life. \nHis presentation takes place at 7:00 PM EST\, and will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream. Before his talk\, Father will celebrate Mass for attendees at 6:15 PM. After Fr. Pine’s talk\, you will have the chance to purchase Your Eucharistic Identity and get it signed. \nThis program is co-sponsored by the Institute for Human Ecology (IHE) at The Catholic University of America. \nNovember 24th Schedule: \n\n6:00 PM: Doors open; Registrant check-in begins\n6:15 PM: Mass celebrated by Fr. Pine\n7:00 PM: “Your Eucharistic Identity” presentation – this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream\n8:00 PM: Booksigning with Father and enjoy a light happy hour\n9:00 PM: Evening concludes\n\nAbout the Book:  \nThe Eucharist is no mere symbol. It is the key to life. More specifically\, it is the key to your very identity. \nWhen we look carefully at the Blessed Sacrament\, under the signs of bread and wine\, we discover that we were made not simply to receive God\, to be nourished by his gifts\, or to draw close to him. In fact\, “we were made to become Him.” In Your Eucharistic Identity\, Fr. Gregory Pine shows that Christ\, through the Sacrament\, divinizes us in our whole being. \nBut the Eucharist is not magic. We have to receive the gift of his Eucharistic presence\, and preparing for such a great banquet requires time\, work\, and attention. To become like Christ\, we must be ready to be given to others\, in a free\, radical gift of love. \nFather Pine’s sacramental guide to the fullness of life—at once thought-provoking and practical\, ancient and new—offers Christians a simple\, clear guide for their path. \nYour Eucharistic Identity is available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:Coached by the Curé
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to a talk by Kevin Wells on his latest book\, Coached by the Curé: Lessons in Shepherding with St. John Vianney\, on Thursday\, November 20 at 6:00 PM EST. This program will be offered both in-person and virtually through a livestream. \nAbout the Book: \nIn this imaginative “letter from Heaven”\, the heartfelt voice of the Curé coaches today’s parents and laity on how to save their lost lambs in these modern days of moral collapse. At an hour when the consciences of Catholic youth and young adults are hourly invaded by a modernist secular culture – and so few clergy are regarded as their rescuers – St. John Vianney emerges  in this book as a titan and rescuer of souls. \nCoached by the Curé captivates readers from the start\, when a gathering of priest-saints from the heavenly court begin to discuss the state of a wounded worldwide presbyterate. After the raw diagnosis\, the humble Curé is given a new name by God. He is told he is no longer “The Patron Saint of Parish Priests”\, but now\, “The Patron Saint of the Domestic Home.” It is the humble Curé’s task to instruct parents – not the many modern priests who’ve rejected him – how to become the domestic priests in their homes. His letter from heaven – aided by his muse\, the martyr St. Philomena – has been written for a single reason: to bring the millions of wandering souls back to grace. Through his holy life in Ars\, Vianney shows parents how they can save their lost ones through the manner in which he brought an entire guillotine-haunted nation back to the Catholic faith. \nWe learn why Vianney turned himself over to poor sinners: He understood  he was the shepherd of their souls. Coached by the Curé is a loving dialogue between the travailed reader and the heart of a saint – a saving martyr who sacrificed all for the sake of even one single soul. Herein\, Vianney coaches his  saintly characteristics into modern man\, so that we can all  learn the self-offering and self-giving needed to protect and save our lost loved ones. \nCoached by the Cure is available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \n11/20 Schedule: \n\n5:40 PM: Doors open for registrant check-in\n6:00 PM: Kevin Wells on “Coached by the Curé” (This portion will be offered both in-person and virtually through a YouTube livestream)\n7:00 PM: Book signing by Kevin Wells and a light happy hour\n8:00 PM: Evening concludes\n\nPlease RSVP today!

SUMMARY:Named for Glory: St. Elizabeth of the Trinity's Identity and Mission (In-Person Only)
DESCRIPTION:“I am going to bury myself in the depths of my soul\, that is\, in God. Will you follow me in this very simple movement?”\n—St. Elizabeth of the Trinity \nSt. Teresa of Avila said that every soul is made for a transforming union with God. In her footsteps\, St. Elizabeth of the Trinity (1880-1906) invites you to rendezvous with her in the interior castle and experience the indwelling presence of the Holy Trinity. Go out into the deep: My Three\, my All! \nWe invite you to join author Julie Enzler at the CIC on Friday\, November 14\, 2025 at 10:00 AM for a discussion of her book about the extraordinary saint known for her mysticism and spiritual writings. (This presentation is offered in-person only.) Julie first discovered St. Elizabeth of the Trinity as a student at Franciscan University and has made her more widely known through courses and the careful translation of Sr. Giovanna della Croce’s Elizabeth of the Trinity: A Life of Praise to God for Sophia Institute Press. \nAbout the Book: \nIn describing her intimate relationship with God\, St. Elizabeth referred to her Divine Bridegroom as “Maestro.” Here\, she guides you in hearing His song and living the chorus of love\, drawing ever closer to His very Heart. Through her powerful spiritual wisdom\, as reflected in her letters to relatives\, loved ones\, and priests\, you will find: \n\nHow to live in the freedom of silence and recollection and remain absorbed in love of God while fulfilling practical demands\nGuidance on offering your life to God by uniting yourself to Jesus in the Holy Eucharist\nWays to deepen your life of prayer to experience the Holy Trinity’s indwelling presence\nThe secret to letting go and clinging to God with the intimacy of a contemplative gaze\nHow to imitate Mary in offering your life as a House of God\, Praise of Glory\, and Host of Praise\nSt. Elizabeth’s Oblation to the Trinity and how to enter the Furnace of Love in the altar of your heart\n\nIn these awe-inspiring pages\, St. Elizabeth unveils the union that you were made to enjoy through Our Lady\, Queen of Martyrs and Gate of Heaven. By reflecting on her name and vocation as Virgin\, Spouse\, and Mother\, St. Elizabeth invites us to answer the universal call to holiness so that our lives will also flow into the very life of God — and His life will flow into ours. By imitating our Blessed Mother in her deep simplicity and making little acts of love and sacrifice each day\, we unite with Jesus in the Sacred Host\, become living oblations\, and thus glorify our Crucified and Risen Lord. \nThe morning-time talk is offered for those with alternative work schedules from the “normal” 9-to-5. The session will include a coffee social\, and will be held in-person only. \nNamed for Glory is available for purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nOctober 14th Morning Schedule: \n\n9:30 am: Doors open for registrant check-in. Help yourself to a cup of coffee\, and find a seat.\n10:00 am: Presentation by Julie Enzler\n11:00 am: Lecture ends\, but stay for another cup of coffee. You will have the opportunity to purchase the book\, and get it signed by Julie.\n\nLastly\, we invite all attendees to stay for the CIC’s daily Mass at noon. Confessions will be offered before and after Mass. \nRSVP for Julie Enzler’s Named for Glory today!

Lawlor’s presentation—which will be offered both in-person and through a livestream—will take place at 7:00 PM EST\, and he will offer Mass to kick off the evening at 6:15 PM. \nNestled two blocks from the Colosseum\, the Basilica San Clemente is one of the rare sites where\, thanks to 150 years of excavations\, one can descend through two millennia of Roman and Christian history\, down to the sidewalks of first century Rome. Its priceless frescoes\, sacred relics and underground archaeological complex make the Basilica one of the world’s great spiritual and historical treasures. In San Clemente people can rediscover the story of the Christian community\, the story of the Church. Its beauty and mystery have touched lives for generations and its new restoration can continue to evangelize generations to come. \nFr. Lawlor will share the unlikely path that led him to archaeology and what he’s learned while uncovering the Basilica’s rich layers of history. He will also show the early progress of an ambitious project dedicated to San Clemente’s restoration\, which is increasingly attracting the involvement of American Catholics interested in preserving the artistic patrimony of the Church. \nNovember 13th Schedule: \n\n6:00 PM: Doors open; Registrant check-in begins\n6:15 PM: Mass\n7:00 PM: Fr. Paul Lawlor’s presentation “San Clemente’s Two Millenia” – (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream)\n8:00 PM: Enjoy a light Happy (Half) Hour\n8:30 PM: Evening concludes\n\nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:Mary\, a Presentation by Fray Stefano Cecchin\, OFM
DESCRIPTION:The CIC is honored to welcome the president of the Pontifical International Marian Academy (PAMI) and a leading voice in contemporary Mariological theology\, Fray Stefano Cecchin\, OFM\, for an insightful presentation on Our Blessed Mother on Thursday\, October 30. Mass will be offered to begin the evening at 6:15 PM EDT with Fray Stefano’s talk following at 7:00 PM EDT. \nFray Stefano will be accompanied by Brother Marco Mendoza Martínez\, Secretary of the Pontifical International Marian Academy (PAMI). Their visit offers a rare opportunity to engage with two distinguished Vatican-affiliated scholars whose work bridges deep theological insight with urgent global concerns. \nFray Stefano Cecchin is a Franciscan theologian\, professor\, and author\, internationally recognized for his contributions to Marian studies. Appointed by Pope Francis in 2017 as President of PAMI\, he has redefined the Academy’s mission to address the spiritual and social relevance of Mary in today’s world. Under his leadership\, PAMI has launched groundbreaking initiatives such as the Department for Legality\, which seeks to reclaim Marian devotion from misuse and promote Mary as a symbol of justice\, peace\, and maternal care. \nWith a doctorate in theology from the Pontifical Faculty “Marianum”\, Fray Stefano’s academic journey is deeply rooted in the Franciscan tradition\, which he views as inherently Marian. His scholarship explores themes such as the Immaculate Conception\, Marian apparitions\, and Mary’s role in Franciscan spirituality\, always emphasizing her power to unite across cultures and faiths. \nFray Stefano’s recent leadership in the 26th International Mariological Marian Congress—a global gathering of scholars and practitioners—demonstrates his commitment to fostering dialogue that speaks to the most pressing human and spiritual challenges of our time. Drawing on papal teachings like Fratelli Tutti and Laudato Si’\, he presents Mary not only as a theological figure\, but as a universal model of encounter\, healing\, and hope. \nWhether through his academic work\, pastoral outreach\, or international coordination\, Fray Stefano inspires a vision of Mary that is deeply relevant to today’s fractured world. We invite you to join us in welcoming him and Brother Marco\, and to take part in this event. \nOctober 30th Schedule: \n\n6:00 PM: Doors open; Registration check-in begins\n6:15 PM: Mass celebrated by CIC Associate Chaplain Fr. Jaime Hernandez\n7:00 PM: Fray Stefano’s presentation on Our Lady (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream)\n8:00 PM: Enjoy a light Happy (Half) Hour\n8:30 PM: Conclusion\n\nRSVP today!

SUMMARY:Monsignor Charles Pope on "The Hell There Is" (In-Person Only)
DESCRIPTION:Join Monsignor Charles Pope at the CIC on Friday morning\, October 24\, 2025 for a lecture that will defend the doctrine of hell against doubters and skeptics. \nAs we move closer to Halloween\, ghoulishly hellish imagery abounds from Hollywood’s latests\, your social platforms\, and in neighborhood front yards. Despite this emphasis on hell in today’s world\, there are many self-described Christians who question whether God would consign any soul to hell. Monsignor Pope will address this falsehood and the people who adopt this belief as ignoring Jesus’s teachings that instruct the exact opposite. He will also argue why hell plays a central role in God’s plan of salvation. \nThe morning-time talk is for those with alternative work schedules from the “normal” 9-to-5. The session will include a coffee social\, and will be held in-person only. \nMonsignor’s latest book\, The Hell There Is: An Exploration of an Often-Rejected Doctrine of the Church\, was released earlier this year and is available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore. \nOctober 24th Morning Schedule: \n\n9:30 am: Doors open for registrant check-in. Help yourself to a cup of coffee\, and find a seat.\n10:00 am: Presentation by Monsignor Charles Pope\n11:00 am: Lecture end. Feel free to purchase the book\, and get it signed by Monsignor.\n\nRSVP today! \nLastly\, we invite all attendees to stay for the CIC’s daily Mass at noon. Confessions will be offered before and after Mass.

SUMMARY:Visions of the Divine
DESCRIPTION:The CIC is pleased to welcome back Catholic evangelist\, businessman\, and author Stephen Auth for a discussion of his latest book\, Visions of the Divine: An Artistic Journey Into the Mystery of the Eucharist. This program will be offered both in-person and virtually through a livestream. \n10/22 Schedule: \n\n5:40 pm EDT: Registration check-in begins\n6:00 pm EDT: “Visions of the Divine” presentation by Steve Auth (this portion will be offered both in-person and through a livestream)\n7:00 pm EDT: Booksigning and a light happy hour\n8:00 pm EDT: The evening concludes\n\nVisions of the Divine is available for purchase at the CIC’s bookstore. \nABOUT THE BOOK: \nIn Visions of the Divine\, Steve Auth reunites the art of the Eucharist with the Eucharistic liturgy itself. Much of this art was separated from the context of the Mass for which it was created many centuries ago and is relegated now to museums sprinkled around the world. Along with his co-authors Evelyn Auth and Msgr. Roger Landry\, Steve leads the reader on a worldwide pilgrimage to some of the most spectacular and moving artistic masterpieces created over the millennia to help clergy and laity alike penetrate more deeply into the Eucharistic mystery. Journeying to museums and churches in nearly 20 cities across the United States and Europe\, the authors will guide you through the liturgy of the Mass in ways you may never have experienced. \nWhether you attend church out of obligation\, for the sense of community you find there\, or for the Eucharistic presence itself\, Visions of the Divine will help you make these experiences richer\, more vibrant\, and more fulfilling. And if you’ve never attended a Roman Catholic Mass and are curious about what happens there\, Visions will give you an experience guaranteed to leave you thirsting for more. \nNarrated in the author’s simple\, emotive style\, Visions of the Divine presents you with dozens of colorful images of thought-provoking art that will immerse you in each element of the Mass at a deeper and more profound level\, including: \n\nHow the simple act of making the Sign of the Cross\, which the average Catholic does eight times during the liturgy\, can make you cry\nQuieting your mind to listen more actively to the Word of God and to imagine yourself in the moment as the Word is proclaimed and the author guides you through some of the Scriptures’ most iconic messages\nImagining the Apostles’ Creed as it was carved and painted into one of Europe’s most colorful Catholic churches\nMeditating on a lasting image of eternity while the collection basket is passed — a practice that will forever change how you think about this relatively prosaic element of the liturgy\nReliving the sacrifice and triumph of Christ on Calvary during the Eucharistic prayers through some of the greatest artistic masterpieces ever created\nFollowing the path of biblical figures\, such as Mary Magdalene\, the prodigal son\, and St. Paul himself\, to freely receive Christ’s healing mercy\, forgiveness\, peace\, and love at Mass\nExperiencing the sacrament of Holy Communion for what it truly is — communion with God Himself\nHow to re-enter the world following the Mass with visual images in your head that will make you a more effective evangelist\n\nFrom Rembrandt\, El Greco\, and Van Gogh to Michelangelo\, da Vinci\, and Raphael; from Velaquez\, Picasso\, and Dali to lesser-known greats\, such as Pontormo\, Masaccio and Drolling\, the array of breathtaking art in Steve Auth’s Visions of the Divine will enlighten your path to communion with God. You will witness our Father’s love for you and be encouraged to let yourself be loved by Him within the Eucharistic mystery.

SUMMARY:The Dignity of Dependence
DESCRIPTION:The CIC is pleased to welcome author Leah Libresco Sargeant for the launch of her latest book\, The Dignity of Dependence: A Feminist Manifesto (Catholic Ideas for a Secular World) on Tuesday\, October 7\, 2025 at 6:00 PM. \nThe Dignity of Dependence argues that women’s equal rights depend on advocating for women as women. \nThe world is not ready to welcome women as women; a culture that fears dependence and asks everyone to aim for autonomy and independence will always be a society hostile to women. Women are expected to care for those around them while living in a society that despises need and penalizes those who care for the weak. \nThe Dignity of Dependence aims to liberate women and men from this corrosive and false ideal of the human person as strongest alone. Leah Libresco Sargeant argues that to thrive\, human beings need to exist in webs of mutual dependence\, not in isolating\, radical autonomy. Women’s equal dignity doesn’t require women to deny biological reality or attempt to be interchangeable with men. Sargeant advocates for building a culture that accepts and celebrates women as they are rather than demanding that women keep their relationships and their bodies in check. The fight for women’s dignity is a fight for a full\, human dignity―a dignity that isn’t threatened by dependence. It is our need for each other that makes us human. \nMrs. Sargeant’s talk will be offered both in-person and virtually through a livestream \nOctober 7th Schedule: \n\n5:40 pm EDT: Doors open for registrant check-in\n6:00 pm EDT: Leah Libresco Sargeant’s presentation (this portion will be offered both in-person and virtually via a livestream)\n7:00 pm EDT: Booksigning by the author and a light happy hour\n8:00 pm EDT: Conclusion\n\nThe Dignity of Dependence will be available to purchase at the CIC bookstore. \nRSVP today!

RSVP today! \n________________________ \nAbout the Book:  \nWhether you are an entrepreneur (or aspiring entrepreneur)\, a business or nonprofit professional\, or a business student\, Holy Ambition: Thriving as a Catholic Woman at Work and at Home will help you navigate work and life with Christ at the center of it all\, recognizing that our most ambitious calling is to be saints. \nAuthors Taryn DeLong and Elise Crawford Gallagher draw from Catholic Women in Business\, their online community of more than five thousand Catholic professional women\, to answer some of the most pressing questions about what it means to fully live out your vocation as an ambitious Catholic businesswoman\, recognizing that the specifics can vary from woman to woman and from one season of life to the next. Each chapter includes wisdom and insights from saints and courageous women past and present who serve as mentors\, role models\, and friends. \nSome of the questions addressed in Holy Ambition include the following: \n\nAm I discerning God’s will for my life correctly? (Learn from St. Teresa of Calcutta\, who persevered during times when she could not hear God’s voice.)\nIs it OK to be ambitious and build wealth? (Be encouraged by St. Jane Frances de Chantal\, who used her ambition and wealth for good—to protect her children.)\nHow can I practice my faith in a secular environment? (Be inspired by St. Gianna Molla\, who built up her medical practice with unwavering faith.)\nHow can I cultivate good relationships and get along with difficult people? (Meet St. Thérèse of Lisieux\, whose “little way” enabled her to love even the most irritating and disagreeable of her religious sisters.)\nHow can I succeed at work while being open to new life? (Discover how St. Zélie Martin found the balance between work and family life.)\nHow can I make a difference as a Catholic entrepreneur? (See how Catherine de Hueck Doherty fought against Communism by helping the poor\, the very people targeted by the Communists.)\n\nWith the turn of each page\, you will deepen your understanding of the feminine genius and discover how “women imbued with the spirit of the Gospel can do so much to aid humanity in not falling” (St. John Paul II). The lived experiences of these women will encourage you to discover and thrive in God’s unique and unrepeatable plan for your life. \nChapter questions for reflection and discussion make this the perfect choice for book clubs and small-group discussions. \n
